Sharp announces the introduction of the world´s thinnest LCD television in Europe in September 2008

This coming September, Sharp will be introducing the extremely thin X series under the name of D95 series of LCD televisions in Europe. These models measure just 3.44 centimetres at their widest point. In so doing, Sharp is taking another step towards the dream of the frameless LCD TV. With this model, alongside high-end technical equipment, Sharp is offering completely new possibilities for the design and positioning of the television area. The delay in the market launch is due to the different technical standards in Japan and Europe.
The D95 series´ excellent image quality is provided by 120-hertz technology in combination with Full HD resolution. Equipped with dynamic contrast of 15,000:1, and a 3-way audio system, this is an unbridled high-resolution television experience. Environmentally friendly design and the low electricity consumption of less than 0.5 watts in standby mode make the new AQUOS models exceedingly energy-saving.
With this series, the LCD pioneer Sharp is once again demonstrating its technological edge. With the introduction of the first LCD TVs in the year 2000, Sharp revolutionised the television. Since then, the LCD technology leader has continued to impress with outstanding developments, and to play a major role in shaping the flat TV market. For instance, at the beginning of 2007, Sharp presented the world´s largest LCD TV, with a screen size of 108 inches (273cm). The introduction of the D95 series is thus part of the consistent continuation of Sharp´s history of achievements, and is a promise of yet more LCD TV innovations to come from Sharp.
